Randall James Morgan went to be with his dad, Thomas, in Heaven, while at MiMichigan Medical Center in Tawas on February 24, 2026.
He was born June 8, 1970, to Thomas and Sharon (Rothrock) Morgan in Kalamazoo, MI. Randy spent his early years as a sports standout in hockey and soccer through high school. He spent summers at the family cottage in Harrisville, where he learned to love the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After high school, his likes turned to golf, bowling, and tournament fishing. He was a Master Bowler in Kalamazoo. He was an avid snowmobiler, and was a proud member of the Hoos Racing pit crew. Randy loved hunting with his family, and spending time at their camp. Luke Bryan describes Randy’s life the best, “Hunting, fishing, and loving everyday”.
In 2012, Randy and his wife, Tonya (Hart) moved to Harrisville, where his parents had just retired.
Randy is survived by his wife, Tonya, four children he loved and was proud of, Trevor (fiance Caitlyn), Kayla, Kayden, and stepdaughter Jayme (Mike Peters), two grandkids, Archer and Gracie, his mother, Sharon, three brothers, Tom (Ashley), Grant (Cori), and Jason (Jaime), his favorite nieces and nephews, Conner, Kyleigh, Jadyn, Mayson, Christina, Ava, Jaxon, and Luke, and his beloved pets, Gunner and Bootz. Randy was preceded in death by his dad, Thomas Sr. in 2021, his grandparents Dorothy Rothrock in 2012, and Ralph and Shirley Morgan, and a cousin Kristin.
Per Randy’s wishes, no formal service is planned, but a celebration of his life will be held later in the summer in Harrisville and Kalamazoo. Memorial donations are suggested to a lung cancer research organization or to Compassus Hospice. The Morgan family is eternally grateful to MiMichigan Medical Center in Tawas and to Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care for our family and friends during Randy’s time at the hospital. Cremation arrangements were made by Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
