Randy Wayne Roberts, 73, of Bloomington, formerly Bedford, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, February 27, 2026.
Born January 31, 1953, in Bedford, he was the son of George and Opal June (Fish) Roberts.
Randy graduated from Bedford High School with the class of 1971 and graduated from Indiana University with a Master’s in Business.
He married Emily Susan Alter on August 2, 1975, and she survives.
Randy was a Reservoir Specialist for the Department of Natural Resources and a Business Manager for Spencer-Owen Community Schools.
He was an avid upland bird hunter and fisherman. Randy loved writing stories of his hunting and fishing experiences, authoring two books. He enjoyed coaching and mentoring young athletes. Randy’s pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, one of his favorite things to do was watch them play sports.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Emily; children, Lucas (Jenny) Roberts, Mitchell (Melissa) Roberts, and Margaret (Caleb) Jones; grandchildren, Reece, Wyatt, and William Roberts, and Jennings and Josephine Jones; sisters, Mona (Steve) Miller and Leann (Roy) Ritter; nephews and niece, Michael Miller, Paul (Bridgett) Owens, and Audra (Adam) Sater; and best friend and cousin, Kevin (Jackie) Robbins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026 at the Limestone Chapel of George Funeral Care at 527 15th street in Bedford, with Pastor Adam Strauser officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-6 P.M. at the Limestone Chapel, Bedford.
