Randy Young Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home, Inc. - Springfield on Jul. 8, 2025.
Randall "Randy" Gill Young, 68, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away at his home on July 4, 2025.
Born on August 27, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, Randy was the son of Marvin Young and Gwen Meeler, both passed, and stepson to David & Shirley Beets, both passed.
Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Patti K. Young; his son Matthew G. Young and wife Wendy; his daughter Michelle N. Farr; his son-in-law Terry Farr; and his treasured grandchildren: Nathaniel Young, Lilliana Young, Liam Farr, Kayla Farr, Angela Farr, Rosealee Farr, Christopher Farr, and Benjamin Farr. He also leaves behind his siblings: Robin Beets, Lori Radford and husband Joe, Brenda Johnston and husband Joe, Brent Beets and wife Kimberly, Denise Kneedler and husband Kenny, Stacy Kudron and husband Todd, Steve Beets and wife Johanna, and Mark Beets along with many nieces and nephews. Randy found great joy in spending time with his family, who brought joy and laughter to his life.
Randy studied at SBU in Bolivar where he met his wife, Patti. He then spent the majority of his career in sales in various businesses including insurance, carpet, and restaurant equipment. Randy served as a board member for the Griswold Cast Iron Association, volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and was a member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge. Randy enjoyed buying, selling, and restoring old cast iron, but enjoyed the comradery he received from the cast iron community even more. He was frequently on the phone or on his computer talking to all of his cast iron family from around the United States.
Those who knew Randy will remember him for his quick wit, his infectious personality, and his unwavering generosity. He lived life with open arms and an open heart. He never met a stranger and was always the first to lend a hand, no matter the situation.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of Randy's life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Randy's memory to Saint Francis Boys Home or Big Brothers Big Sisters, two organizations close to his heart.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
