Raquel Dominique Butler-Smith born on August 12, 1968 in Ogden, Utah, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, just four days after her birthday in Las Vegas, NV. We are all extremely heartbroken to announce the death of the glue, light, and bliss of our family. Her untimely death occurred at just the age of 54, surrounded by her two beautiful children and her loving family. Raquel was a truly joyous privilege to be around and experience up close. She was never halfhearted or lackluster in anything that she did or any interaction that she had because her love and intentions were pure and always unconditional. Raquel was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend.
Cosmetology School. She worked as a store manager at The Avenue and Sally s Beauty Supply, Internal Revenue Service, Defense Depot of Ogden, and she excelled as a timeshare chief sales representative for Wyndham Resorts & Casinos for many years.
Raquel was always looking for the upside to even the most difficult of task or looking to extend herself even when she knew it was not going to be reciprocated. It was always about the overall principle for her. She was the type of person you could call upon at any hour of the day or night and she would willingly place an unwritten incumbent duty and moral responsibility upon herself to go out of her way and make sure she gave you that 2nd wind that you needed to carry on throughout the day with your head held high.
Her positive words of encouragement would truly be the fuel we all needed when our spirits were low. Even when she herself and others were fully aware of her own personal circumstances, she always chose to be our light when often so many others sought to be the darkness. Raquel picked up the responsibilities of so many, while expecting nothing but love in return. She was a true angel in mind, body, and soul.
Raquel was very charismatic, funny, loved to dance, sing R&B music, 80 s childhood classics, and had the voice of an angel. She also loved doing arts and crafts such as painting with watercolors and building seasonal holiday reefs for the community. Her hobbies included watching MARVEL films whilst attempting to guess what was coming next, cooking meals for her family with a chef s kiss and touch like no other, and she absolutely LOVED comedy.
Cracking a good joke with you was her way of greeting you ESPECIALLY if you were having a rough day (this holds especially true to her little brother Efrem, lol.) Raquel married her true love and best friend Kirk Smith after meeting and dating in college. They had two beautiful children whom she now lives on through: her 1st born and only son Lonny-Kirklann McMillan Smith and her 2nd and only daughter Kimbryanna Shaquelle-Jaylann Smith; her loving and beautiful mother Lucy Butler; father Harry Sherman Butler; little brother Efrem Cornelius Butler and her big sister Kimberlene C. Butler.
She was preceded in death by Irene Turner (grandmother), Lonnie Turner(uncle), Lizette Duckworth (aunt), Clarence Bradley (uncle), Shawna Turner (cousin), Anthony Holsten (cousin), Martha Turner (aunt) and DeNero Snider (nephew).
