Rawleigh Armes Obituary
He was born on September 29, 1936 in Granite City, IL to Rawleigh Armes, Sr and Marie (Lundy) Jaeger.
Rawleigh married Anita Frentzel in Granite City on August 29, 1981.
The U.S. Marine corps veteran was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Granite City. Rawleigh retired from the Rexxall drug factory after 21 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Besides his wife, Rawleigh is survived by 2 daughters: Corine Harris of Granite City and Dianne Armes of Granite City; a son, Rawleigh III (Jeanne) Armes of FL; 8 grandchildren: Jason (Anna) Armes of Chicago, Ryan Armes of St. Louis, Nicole Gebhardt of St Louis, Cara (Cole) Mattice of Granite City, Lindsey Armes of Farmington, MO, Shane Armes of Granite City, Baileigh Armes of FL, Rawleigh Armes IV of FL and 6 great grandchildren: Penelope Armes, Isla Armes, Brian Groboski, Lucas Armes, Tyler Bukowski and Abbey Mills. Also surviving are a step son, Daniel Hunziker, Jr; 3 brothers: Gene (Carol) Armes of FL, John (Christi) Jaeger of CA and William "Bill" Armes of CA and a sister, Vicki (Steve) Davis of CA. Also, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Besides his parents, Rawleigh is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Armes; a grandson, Brandon Bukowski and a sister, Italine Lipscomb.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, 2001 St. Clair Ave in Granite City, IL. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
