I am so sorry to find out that Ray has passed.I have never forgotten Ray or his sweet we ife Mary.I am from Bonham,Tx and I met Ray the first week of June 1988.I had a friend that somehow obtained an interview at Mrs Bairds with Tay and I saw him in town the day he was supposed to be in Dallas at his interview and I asked about it and he just laughed it off and changed his mind and didn't even call Ray and tell him. So I remember that I quickly ran to the pay phone and called Mrs Bairds and was transferred to Tay Baker. At that point I explained the situation to him and asked for the possibility of a interview in the place of my buddies and told Ray that I wanted and needed a job there and was 18yrs old and getting married the following week and a baby on the way and Ray simply askerd when I could be there. I told him I could come right now and he said hed be waiting to meet me. I arrived and went into his office and didn't know what to expect. Ray simply asked when I can start and he actually put me to work the following day after a checkup with the company Dr.I have always respected Ray for giving me my start in life. I never once saw Ray get angry or loose his temper. And his wife was the most lovely woman in the world. I never saw her without a smile on her face and speaking to everyone. I idolized them both for being such a happy couple. I remember even being invited to their beautiful house there west of the bakery off of Mockingbird lane. I just can't say enough good about the both of them. They both inspired my life in every way. I have spent my life telling people how wonderful they both were. The last time I saw them was in 1990 if I remember correctly. But they both touched my heart and theres a special place in Heaven for people such as the Bakers. Sincerely, Ronnie Maples.
