ROCKY MOUNT – Ray Tommy Bolin, age 80, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. Born in Blacksburg, SC on December 21, 1944, he was the son of the late Junius Bolin and Clella Bolin. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Sandy Griffin; his son-in-law, Wayne Griffin; and his sister, Diane Bolin.
Ray was a United States veteran, serving in the Army branch. He worked as a lineman for the City of Rocky Mount for 17 years. Ray then went on to start his own painting business with his wife, Paulette, Bolin's Painting and Wallcovering. There was no place Ray would rather be than on a boat bass fishing with his son Allen or on the sidelines watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
Ray is survived by his wife of 54 years, Paulette; his son, Allen Bolin and wife, Stephanie; his grandchildren, Megan Hensley and husband, Sam, Brandon Griffin, Lillian Bolin, and Connor Bolin; his siblings, JoAnn Lawson, Rachel Wright, Francis Black, Peggy Camp, and Woody Bolin; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Temperance Hall Church, 3834 Temperance Road, Elm City, NC 27822 with Rev. Mike Edmondson officiating. A visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM prior to the service at Temperance Hall Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ray's memory to Temperance Hall Church, 3834 Temperance Road, Elm City, NC 27822.
