Ray Browning Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tom M. Wages Funeral Service - Lawrenceville on Feb. 20, 2026.
Jesus has welcomed home our beloved Ray. Born a Lawrenceville, Georgia native on August 20th, 1957, Ray was a faithful believer in God, a loving son, brother and uncle. He was the epitome of strength. Despite life-long disabilities and many health challenges along the way, Ray always had a smile on his face…never bitter, and steadily unwavering in his faith. Ray enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves baseball games with his brother Ronnie, fishing, church, family gatherings, fellowship with those who loved him, adventurous activities and of course, good food! Ray is preceded in life by his parents, Cecil Ray Browning and Peggy Hammett Browning, as well as his aunts, Wilma Hammett Smith, Becky Hammett Roper, and his uncle, Phillip Hammett. Ray is survived by his brother Ronnie Browning (Angie), sister Cindy Bailey, and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Ray's final shared sentiment was of a dream he had the night before he passed peacefully in his sleep. When asked by his years-long and fiercely devoted caregiver, Ester Lane, "Ray, you were mumbling in your sleep, what were you dreaming about?" he replied, "My mother; she said everything is going to be alright". Ray is more than alright now, he is walking with Jesus in his brand new, whole, and healthy body. We'll see you in Heaven Ray, you are so very loved.
