Ray Deibel, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 82. Ray was born on September 22, 1943, and spent much of his life in dedication to both his career and his family. He graduated from Strasburg High School and went on to work for the Timken Company, where he devoted 35 years of service before retiring in 2001. Following his retirement, he found joy in driving as a carrier for the Amish community, a role that reflected his caring nature and desire to help others. Ray lived on a farm all of his life, where he spent many days on his John Deere tractor and enjoyed the evenings on his swing under the big maple tree.
Ray was a man deeply devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Leann (Dave Machar) Deibel, and his son, Eric (Lauri Bennard) Deibel, alongside his beloved great-grandchildren: Jaxon Gerber, Jemma Gerber, and Jerzee Gerber. His grand-puppy, Winnie, also held a special place in his heart. Ray’s legacy of love and support for his family will be forever remembered.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol Deibel, whose presence he cherished throughout their life together. Ray was also preceded by his father, Lyhl Deibel, and mother, Beatrice Deibel. All thirteen of his siblings who have passed include, Mildred Steiner, Fritz Deibel, Marie Snellenberger, Eloise Thomas, Naomi Prysi, Sarah Maurer, Esther Echelberry, Earl Deibel, Joe Deibel, Herb Deibel, Lloyd Deibel, Faye Ramey, and Helen Marshall.
Ray found solace in his faith and was a regular attendee at the Dalton Presbyterian Church, where he fostered connections and engaged with his community, and shared his gift of singing. His personality was warm and welcoming; he loved spending time making memories with those he cared for, always bringing laughter and joy to every gathering. Ray was also a long-time member of the Tuscarawas Valley Pioneer Power Association which brought him much joy.
Ray Deibel will be profoundly missed by all who knew him, his legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories shared with family and friends. Between Ray and his siblings, he always said "God saved the best for last."
Visitation will occur on February 15, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home in Massillon, OH. A second visitation will take place on February 16, 2026, starting at 10:00 AM at Dalton Presbyterian Church, followed by a funeral service at the same location at 11:00 AM. Following services, Ray will be laid to rest at Brookfield Cemetery.
