Ray F. Dowden

Ray F. Dowden, 89, of Anderson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his children at his residence on December 30, 2025. He was born on July 12, 1936, in Fortville, Indiana, the son of Kenneth and Esther Dowden.

Ray retired from General Motors.

He was known as the Griswold man, and was a collector of rare cast iron. Ray was an avid outdoorsman where he loved to fish, hunt, camp, and ride horses.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol P. Dowden; siblings, Sam, Jack, Art, Phyllis, Janet, Berna Lou and Beverly (Bobbi) and son, Monte Dowden.

He is survived by his sons, Kenny (Jenny) Dowden, Paul C. Patton and John Patton; daughter, Marte Dowden and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by several friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Loose Funeral Homes & Crematory, 200 West 53rd Street, Anderson, Indiana, 46013.

Services will follow visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in Mendon Cemetery, in Pendleton, Indiana.
