Ray Steven John, 70, of South Haven passed away Thursday, June 1, at Wings of Hope Hospice in Allegan Michigan.
Ray was born in South Haven on September 24, 1952, the son of Raymond and Virginia John. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Janet Ann John.
Ray is survived by sisters Susan (Clyde) Dopp and Virginia (Sherman) Whitaker, his son Jason John and Jason's mother Cathy Perrino.
Ray attended LC Mohr High School, graduating in 1970. After high school, Ray traveled the US working part time jobs and exploring. Visiting Venezuela, Jamaica and Aruba before settling back in South Haven and working as a semi-truck driver for 30 years delivering goods all throughout the US. Ray was an avid sports enthusiast, playing slow pitch softball in his younger years, coaching his son Jason's baseball teams and faithfully following his favorite teams, especially the New York Yankees. He enjoyed getting to know new people and building relationships through get togethers and barbecues. Ray was an adventurer and a great father. He will dearly be missed.
