Ray Melvin McNabb, age 93, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away March 12, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri. Ray was born in Brookline, Missouri on June 14, 1931.
Ray was one of eleven children raised in Brookline. He would go on to join the army, where he served as a paratrooper with 13 jumps. In 1955 Ray would marry Hazel Leota McNabb, and they would have a child together, Gregg McNabb. Ray worked as a door-to-door salesman selling sewing machines & garbage disposals, a Greene Co. Deputy Sherriff, and would eventually retire from City Utilities, in Springfield, Missouri. In retirement Ray enjoyed staying active in church, socializing with friends at Doling Senior Center, and would often act as chauffeur for friends. Ray was a long-time member of High Steet Baptist, and later in life was a member of Orchard Crest Baptist Church. In his free time Ray enjoyed traveling in an RV and was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed Young's Fresh Apple cider, trips to Mexican Villa, and potluck dinners at his church.
Ray is preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Leota McNabb.
Ray is survived by his son, Gregg McNabb, and his daughter-in-law, Tammy McNabb.
Funeral services will be held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens at 10:00 AM, Monday, March 17, 2025.
