Ray Newman Obituary

FRANKLIN - Ray James Newman, 64, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025.
He was born June 3, 1961, in Gainesville, Florida, to the late Murray and Nancy Newman.
Moving to Deep Creek early in his life, he graduated from Swain County high school in 1979. When attending college he would meet Teresa, the love of his life of 43 years. He had a big heart for animals and rescued many. He had unmatched passion of Fontana Lake and loved camping on Forney Creek, spending time with his family and friends there. All his attributes were best displayed when you watched him with Bexley, Bentley and Ellie, who adore him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Teresa; daughters, Sasia (Jon) and Amber Rae; grandchildren, Bexley Maloney, Bentley Maloney and Ellie Love; sisters, Taylor (John) and Merritt (Tim); and 54 nieces and nephews.
Nothing prepared us for this huge loss. Daddy was one of the biggest parts of our life. He had the wisdom of ages, the strength of a mountain, the warmth of the summer sun and the generous soul of nature. This masterpiece was Ray.
We know he will be watching over us with a guiding hand as there will be times, we will want to talk to you or ask your advice on things. We will make sure to always make you proud. We will miss your contagious laugh and all your stories. We will talk of you often and we will certainly never forget you.
Per his wishes, no services will be held at this time.
