Ray David Ritchie

Ray David Ritchie, 78, of Timberville passed away March 1,2026 at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

He was born on December 4, 1947 in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Alvin and Ada Lantz Ritchie.

On July 18, 1970 he married Nancy Wood, to whom he was happily married to for 55 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Jill Ritchie (Wes Cave), Amber Ritchie; grandchildren, Skyler Cyr, Dakota Cyr, Shannon Maley, Liam Maley; brothers, Donald Ritchie (Debbie), Carter Ritchie (Donna); sister, Susie Fye; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

As Mr. Ritchie, he especially enjoyed making science fun for his 8th graders by relating his hobbies of bicycling, ham radio, guns, and roller coasters through physics.

In his youth, he was an enthusiastic mountain biker who loved hitting the trails with family and friends, and was also actively involved in various amateur radio clubs and events. Hunting and scouting with his family was, by far, his favorite pastime.

Pastor Victor Noris will conduct a funeral service on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway. Burial will follow privately.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4-6 P.M. at Grandle Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
