Raydean Witt Clevenger

Raydean Vandiver (Carver) Witt Clevenger, age 98 of Knoxville, passed away Friday, September 22, 2023.
Raydean was born to the late Reuben and Vyrtle (Ray) Carver in Old Fort (Polk Co) Tennessee. Raydean was raised in Polk County and Englewood, graduated high school and immediately went into the workforce. She had a varied work history. She was an assistant buyer for Rich's in Atlanta. She left that job to do her part for the war effort during WWII. As a welding inspector she worked on battleships in Brunswick, GA and later was employed in Oak Ridge working on the Manhatten Project. While at Y12 she worked as a Calutron Girl monitoring the machines that separated uranium isotopes. At the end of her workdays, she retired from Viskase Corporation in Loudon, formerly known as Union Carbide. Raydean delighted in ballroom dancing and enjoyed bowling. She also enjoyed worshipping and volunteering at West Park Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Raydean was preceded in death by her husbands, Edwin Witt and Floyd Clevenger; her siblings and spouses, Millard and Grace Carver, Lavada and Moris Beavers, Gwen and Juanita and Polly Carver.
Left to treasure her memory, son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Paulette Witt; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Eddie Hodge; grandchildren and spouses, Leigh Anne and Tommy Joseph, Julie and Britton Crafton, Laura and Kane Hamilton, Daniel and Liz Witt, Rachel and Craig Reynolds and Wade and Sara Hodge; great-grandchildren, Haley, Jackson, Kate, Thomas, Will, Elle, Ben, Witt, Samson, Parker, Ethan, Hawkins, Cameron, Barrett, Brady and soon to come Hannah; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
At Raydean's request, a private family service will be held graveside in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens, Lenoir City, TN. If you so desire, you may honor Raydean's memory by donating to your favorite charity. McGill Click Funerals & Cremations, 1366 Hwy 72 N. Loudon.
