Rayford O'Tinger

Rayford O'Tinger, of Powell, AL, was born on June 20, 1945 in Section, AL, to Granville Lee "Doc" and Florence Irene Young O'Tinger. Rayford was married to Linda Remell Maxwell O'Tinger for 46 years and they raised four children together. Funeral services will be held on at 2pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, from W.T. Wilson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow the service in Old Sardis Cemetery. Officiating are Bro. Tracy Furgerson, Bro. Melvin Dawson, and Bro. Jerry Smith. The family will receive friends from 5pm-8pm on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the funeral home.

Rayford enjoyed life to the fullest and it was displayed in his love for God, his family, his friends, and anybody that he met daily. Rayford worked as a custodian for 14 years at the DeKalb Medical Center before retiring from DeKalb County Commission Housekeeping after 13 years. Rayford touched many lives with his infectious laughter, smile, and mischievous pranks. Rayford loved his family and was a proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His grandchildren brought him great joy, as he devoted himself to every opportunity to support them in their achievements and activities.

Rayford was a man of great faith, and his desire to worship God was at the center of his life. He never missed an opportunity to be in church worshipping in song and testimony. Rayford O'Tinger fought the good fight and finished his course on August 28, 2025, peacefully at his home.

Rayford O'Tinger is survived by his wife: Linda Remell Maxwell O'Tinger: two daughters: Dorothy Pamela (Nathan) Shrader of Flat Rock, AL, and Paulette Loraine (Stacey) Sanford of Rainsville, AL; one son: Leonard Lee O'Tinger; seven grandchildren: Justin (Emilee) Shrader, Jessica (Dewight) Mills, Jarrett (Catherine) Sanford, Dawson Sanford, Robin O'Tinger, Ethan (Jasmine) O'Tinger, Zachery O'Tinger; seven great grandchildren; brother: Doyle (Sue) O'Tinger of Rossville, GA; sister: Joanne Plank of Signal Mountain, TN.

Rayford O'Tinger was preceded in death by his parents: Granville and Florence O'Tinger; son: Larry Ray O'Tinger; great granddaughter: Sheila Danielle O'Tinger; sisters: Faye Clements and Dorothy Maxwell; stepsister: Oma Wise; brother: Melvin Lee O'Tinger.
