Raymond Alonzo, age 88 of Kingman and formerly of Hammond, passed away on Monday, December 15, 2025 at home. He was born in East Chicago, Indiana on September 6, 1937 to the late Joe and Elsie (Magio) Alonzo.
Raymond attended Hammond High School before proudly serving his country as a member of the United States Navy. After his military service, he built a successful career as a pipefitter with Union 597, where he devoted 34 years of hard work and determination.
Raymond was a very sweet guy that loved his wife dearly. On September 25, 1965 he married the love of his life, Linda (Tague) Alonzo. An active member of his community, Raymond was a proud 50-year Mason and a valued participant in the Hammond VFW Post 802 and Kingman Christian Church.
His warm spirit touched many lives, and he had a profound love for animals, particularly his beloved dogs, Bailey and Nellie. He loved to fish and his artistic talents shone through in his crafts, drawing, and woodwork. He prided himself in creating beautiful rocking chairs from clothes pins, even crafting one that he sent to the White House for President Bush.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Alonzo; three children, Robin (Annette) Richards, Dan Alonzo, and Eric (Todd) Alonzo; nine grandchildren, Dan, Katie (Chris), Clinton, Brandon (Autumn), T.J (Celina), Kim (Ryan), Stacy, Lisa, and Tom; many great grandchildren; a brother, Albert (Barbara) Alonzo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Ramie Joe Alonzo; four brothers, David, Tom, Phillip and Joseph; and four sisters, Delores, Patsy, Bea and Jean.
There will be a Graveside Service at the Elmwood Cemetery, 1413 169th Street, in Hammond, Indiana on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 1:00pm (Central Time) with military honors. Sanders Funeral Care entrusted with care. Share memories and condolences online at www.SandersFuneralCare.com.
