I was one of Mr. Bachman's students at Beloit Memorial during the 1970-1971 school year. I regard him as the best teacher I had in my 3 years at BMHS. He inspired my interest in 20th Century U.S. history and politics, encouraging us to read a wide variety of periodicals and books, and to write analyses each week on things we had read. His impact on my methodology, understanding, and ultimately my beliefs remains to this day. I believe the strong recommendation letter he wrote on my behalf was instrumental in my admittance to the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
