Dr. Raymond (Ray) Emil Biagini, a loving husband, devoted father, and truly remarkable public servant, passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on October 10, 1949, in San Francisco, CA, Ray spent his life dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people through his work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Ray graduated with a Master's degree in Biochemistry from the University of Reno, NV in 1976 and a Doctorate in Toxicology from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 1984. He was Commissioned as Health Services Officer under the Office of the Surgeon General for 30 years in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, where he conducted research on occupational asthma, antibody detection and bioterrorism. His work earned him numerous accolades including the Distinguished Service Medal for invaluable research contributions to the health and safety of the American people, the highest award given to a Public Health Service Commissioned officer. His contributions to science were invaluable, yet it was his warm spirit and infectious sense of humor that truly lit up any room.
Outside of his professional accomplishments, Ray was the life of the party-a jokester who could always be counted on to bring laughter to family gatherings and game nights filled with Trivial Pursuit. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis and served on the ski patrol in Reno. He loved nothing more than cooking for his family and creating lasting memories during vacations together. One of his favorite summer pastimes was "wallowing" in his pool, enjoying the company of family and friends. Whether he was building computers or penning scientific literature, his passion for knowledge and discovery never faded.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Biagini; his treasured daughter Jocelyn Biagini Sanger, and his son-in-law, John Sanger; cherished son, Matthew Biagini, and his daughter-in-law, Traci Biagini; sister Trudy Aquilina and brother-in-law Joseph Aquilina. Grandfather of Grayson, Griffin, Reagan, Melanie, Tyler and Sophia. His loving presence, humor, laughter, candor and intellect will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30th from 9:30-10:30am at Evans Funeral Home in Milford, OH followed by Mass at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church where family and friends will gather to honor Ray's extraordinary life. All who knew him are invited to share stories and celebrate the joy he brought into their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Ray's memory to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation or the American Diabetes Association. Ray's legacy will continue through the countless lives he has touched, and he will forever be remembered with love and laughter.
Raymond was preceded in death by parents Albert & Rose Biagini and brother Lawrence Biagini.
