Raymond K. Bown

Raymond K. Bown, 84, of Newport passed away at his home on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Born in Fairfield Twp. to the late David L. Bown and Kathryn L. Sheppard Bown, he had been the husband of Judith A. Branin Bown for the last 29 years. Raymond had been a resident of Newport for over 80 years. Prior to his retirement, he had worked as a maintenance manager for U.S. Silica for over 40 years.

In his free time, he enjoyed working on tractors, tinkering in his garage and bird watching. He was a farmer all his life and could often be found tending to his garden. Raymond had a love for country music, some of his favorite artists being, Hank Williams, Conway Twitty and George Jones.

He is survived by; his wonderful wife, Judith A. Bown; his children, Donna Engle (Ron) and Clinton L. Bown; siblings, Patricia Frank (Allen) and Patrick Bown (Merry); his cousin, Edwin Bown (Shirley), whom was raised as his brother and who he had worked with at U.S. Silca for many years; step-children, Susan, Louis, Richard, Judy and Theresa; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by; his parents, David L. and Kathryn L. Bown; his brother, Walter Bown; and step-sons, Albert and Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 4th, at the PADGETT FUNERAL HOME, 1107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Twp. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 10AM to 11AM prior to the services. Interment will take place following the funeral service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Lawrence Twp.
