Devoted to his family
WATERBURY - It is with profound sadness that the family of Raymond A. Ciarello, 69, a cherished, father, grandfather and dear friend, share news of his peaceful passing on Saturday, October 5, 2024 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Laurie (Thorn) Ciarello of 43 years.
Mr. Ciarello was born on June 17, 1955 in Queens NY, the son of the late Anthony and Angelina (Rago) Ciarello. Ray and his family moved to Naugatuck when he was 14 years old, and he graduated from Naugatuck High School and furthered his studies learning his trade at Kaynor Tech. He worked as an Appliance Service Technician for Whirlpool for many years. Ray enjoyed many interests such as being a left-handed shortstop, working out with his YMCA friends, taking immaculate care of his cars, especially his famous tire shine and his love of music which included an extensive record collection and playing drums. Nothing was more important to Ray than his family especially being a loving grandfather. He was particularly proud of his Italian heritage and was proud of his specially prepared meatballs and sauce. Ray had a great sense of humor and a quick wit and was a giant of everything good, humility, integrity and generosity. Our family thanks you Dad, for battling your disease with such bravery, for your incredible strength and the love that you shared with all of us which has helped instill in us a capacity to love that is unending.
Left to cherish his memory, beside his loving wife Laurie, are his two daughters and their families: Jeana Wallace and her husband Nick and their children, Carley and Elliana of Middlebury, Alicia Ciarello and her fiancé, Ryan and soon to be grandson, of Glastonbury .
As our family mourns an unimaginable loss, we are deeply touched by the outpouring of support from so many of our family, friends and the community. The considerate and thoughtful care provided by Hartford Healthcare Hospice has been a great source of comfort during this difficult time and the family is grateful beyond words can ever express. We as a family thank all of you from the bottom of our hearts and will treasure forever the time spent together, the love we shared, memories achieved and a blessed life together with your support.
