Mr. Raymond Cyprien Comerford, age 89, of Hoschton, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Braselton's Funeral Home and a Service at 2:00 PM in the Braselton Chapel with Deacon Tom Walter officiating.
Mr. Comerford was born in Queens, NY in 1934. A graduate of Chaminade High School, he earned his engineering degree at the NY Maritime College at Fort Schuyler. Before being called up for Naval duty as a lieutenant on the USS Ranger 62, he married his sweetheart, Joan in 1957. They moved to San Francisco and Joan worked as a nurse while he was stationed in Japan. He served for two years and another seven years as a Naval Reserve officer. After leaving the Navy, Raymond held positions at Ingersoll Rand and Transamerica Corporation specializing in turbine design and manufacturing programs for nuclear power plants. Starting his own materials handling business, Industry Services in the 1980's, Raymond put his many years of experience towards new entrepreneurial goals while raising his family in Bucks County, PA.
Finally retiring to Hoschton, Georgia, Raymond and Joan embraced a new community of friends at Deaton Creek. Always uplifted by nature – he enjoyed nothing more than hiking in the woods, walking on the beach, playing golf and tennis. The couple enjoyed many wonderful trips abroad discovering family history in Ireland, whale watching in Alaska, and holidays in the Mediterranean and Mexico.
Our family honors Raymond as an officer and a gentleman who lived his life with integrity, humility, purpose, intelligence, generosity, determination and faith- always with respect and love for those around him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Joan and his three children: Karen Comerford, Kathy Trindle and Ken Comerford, five grandchildren, two adored great grandchildren and his brother Dr. Robert Comerford.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions and prayers be made to Gentiva Hospice in honor of Raymond Cyprien Comerford at: The Gentiva Foundation (gentivahs.com)

Ray was a fine gentleman with a big smile and a gentle manor. We played trivia with Ray and Joan and enjoyed the winning answers and laughing at the misses.
What an accomplished life Ray led .
Condolences to Joan and the Comerford family
