Joseph Wayne McIntire of Hoschton, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home at age 56 on Wednesday October 8, 2025, surrounded by family after 1 1/2 years of a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Joe was born on February 21, 1969 in Austin, Texas, son of Jack and Maggie (Morton) McIntire. Joe worked as a Claims Consultant for Lockton Insurance Brokers until his passing, and was a devout member of Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church. Joe is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 23 years Jennifer, daughter Ava (21) and son Wyatt (20). In addition to his immediate family, Joe is survived by his mother Maggie and brother Andy (wife Shelby and daughter Ema).
Joe received a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) in 1992 from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, where he served as the President of Sigma Phi Epsilon. Joe selflessly always put his family first, never at a loss for a witty remark that made all around him laugh. While it was never important to him what others thought, he was always there when they came to him for his advice and his knowledge. The consummate family man, handyman, go-to guy and king of useless trivia, he loved going to concerts and building furniture for his kids. And although he was a bat boy for the Greensboro Hornets when he was a teenager, he was still terrible at golf.
During his difficult treatment, Joe said, "It was a life well lived but cut too short."
A visitation will be held on Friday October 17, 2025 from 4-7pm in the Braselton Room at Memorial Park Braselton Funeral Home. A private funeral service for family is scheduled for Saturday, October 18th in the Chapel with Jerry Edmondson. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to either the American Cancer Society or AGAPE Hospice.
Memorial Park Braselton Funeral Home, 5257 Hwy 53 Braselton Georgia 30517 is in charge of arrangements. Send online condolences to www.memorialparkfuneralhomes.com.
