Raymond Dauer Obituary

Raymond F. Dauer, 99 , of Tarentum, passed away peacefully at Allegheny Valley Hospital on Dec. 24, 2025. He was born June 23, 1926, in Tarentum, to the late Joseph and Mary (Schwerer) Dauer. Ray enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country aboard a minesweeper in the Pacific Theater. Upon his honorable discharge, Ray spent his entire life in Tarentum, where he was very involved in his church community. Ray was always present with his wife, Mary, at every need of the parish. They were devoted members of Holy Martyr's and then Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Natrona Heights, bingo fun fairs, Corpus Christi carpets, etc. Whatever the need, they were there. Ray worked for 46 years in the supervisory position for PPG Glass Corporation and made particularly significant contributions in the Twindow area. The last year before his retirement, he traveled to Germany and Switzerland to locate and purchase equipment for PG. He assisted his son "Butch" every day, completing his plumbing work. Every day was a different adventure, and he was always ready to go. His son was asked so many times, "Is your dad a master plumber too " The answer was always the same: "No, but I could not find a better helper, and he is my best friend." Ray was a quiet but strong man with a selfless demeanor. He always was asking, "What can I do for you " Ray was a dedicated father and grandfather, always putting his family first. Ray was married to his best friend of 77 years, his late wife, Mary. Ray was a member of the Tarentum VFW and the Brackenridge Legion. He loved to golf and spent many summer weekends fishing and relaxing on his son's pontoon boat; unless the weather forecast was inclement, then it was spent heading to the casinos (which his wife loved too). Ray's late wife, Mary, escorted trips for many years for Thomas Tours, and he enjoyed so many excursions across the country. Survivors include his son, Raymond M. (Donna M.) Dauer, of Lower Burrell; his daughter, Lynn M. (Guy Benjamin) Buccigrossi, of Lower Burrell; his grandson, Michael R. Dauer, of Lower Burrell; his granddaughter, Kristen M. (Colby) Lowry, of Gilpin Township; as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dauer, and his three brothers, William, Joseph, and Albert Dauer; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Bodnar. The family would like to send a special thank you to the Lower Burrell Ambulance #3 and the AHN ED/ICU nurses and physicians for excellent care and compassion. Visitation is from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, in DUSTER FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 347 E. 10th Ave., Tarentum, 724-224-1526, followed by a Christian funeral Mass at noon in St. Joseph Church, New Kensington, with Father Elpidio (Bimbot) Alcontin officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Hope Cemetery, Frazer Township. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the charity of one's choice in Ray's name. Visit dusterfuneralhomeinc.com.
