Raymond Jett Freeman, longtime resident of Spanish Fort, AL passed away on December 31, 2025 at the age of 81. He was born in Brownsville, Tennessee.

Jett loved the Lord, especially his church family. He served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and on numerous other committees in the church. Jett was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in the Panama Canal Zone. He was a graduate of LSU where he received a Degree in Forestry and received a Master's degree in Forestry from Yale University. He was employed by International Paper Company in the Woodlands dept for thirty-one years until he retired. Jett served as president of the Alabama Forestry Association and served three years on the Malcolm Baldridge Quality Award Committee.

He loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening, so much, that he became a Master Gardener and Beekeeper. He would always share his honey and vegetables with friends and family. Jett loved his family. In 2015 he became a "Papa" and loved spending time with his two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Ernest and Allyne Freeman.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Mary Joyce Freeman; His son, Taylor Jett Freeman and his wife, Brannon Wiley Freeman of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Wiley Jett Freeman and Frances Bullock Freeman. Also surviving are his brother, Ernest (Emily) Freeman; Neices, Ashley (Barrett) Gilbreath, Katie (Robert) Baird, Audra Lloyd, Kristi Crumpton and nephew, Brian (Katie) Freeman and great nieces and nephews and special neighbors, Lily and Kate Gentry.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at East Pointe Baptist Church, 34742-AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00am until service time. Graveside services will be at 11:00am at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Hwy 225. Officiating will be Dr. Rob Burns and Pastor Jonathan Maddox. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may given to: East Pointe Baptist Church, 34742 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527.

Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home of Daphne, Alabama.
