Raymond Gerald “Jerry” Beckwith, 86, of Rock Island, went to be with our Lord on November 6, 2024, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday November 13, 2024, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Moline. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded.
Born November 23, 1937, to Raymond and Evelyn (nee Nolan) Beckwith in Moline, IL. On June 21, 1958, Jerry married Claudia (nee Campbell) from Mount Pleasant, IA. He graduated from the Rock Island Senior High School in 1955 and went on to work at the former Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company (MidAmerican Energy, Davenport, IA) where he retired after 38 years.
Jerry is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Claudia; sons, Mike (Nikki) Beckwith of Cedarburg, WI., and Mark (Bonita Vincent) Beckwith of Moline; half-sister, Carla (James) Chagaris of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Marjorie Hopkins of Carrollton, IL; grandchildren, Katie Wood, Meg Beckwith (Melanie Lowry), Joe (Kate) Beckwith, Jordan (Mac) Theys, Mark Beckwith; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, McKenna, Nolan, Mikey, Shiloh, Miles, Olivia, and Baby Beckwith 2025.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Dr. William Hopkins of Carrollton, IL., sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Arlene and Charles Edmondson of Ankeny, IA.
There are no words that can express how grateful and blessed we are to the staff at COMPASSUS Hospice and caregivers Micah, Steve, Kristin, Rebecca, and Robin, along with the City of Rock Island Fire Department for your care and compassion during the past two years.
