Raymond Gick Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 19, 2025.
Raymond "Ray" Vincent Gick, Jr. of Woodbury, NJpassed suddenly of natural causes in the company and re-assuring comfort of his kids, his daughter Jennifer (Chrystan) Bernero and her husband, Brian Bernero, on the evening of November 10th, 2025.
Born in 1942 at Cooper Hospital, Ray grew up in Camden and Pennsauken, New Jersey. He attended primary at St. Joseph's School (now St. Joseph Pro-Cathedral) and secondary at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School ('59). Ray served honorably in the United States Marine Corps as an Aviation Electronics Technician before graduating from Drexel Institute of Technology ('68; now Drexel University). Thereafter, he studied nursing, earning a BSN from the Crozer Foundation College of Nursing (just prior to acquisition by Widener) and later, a Master's of Science in Nursing from The University of Pennsylvania ('73). After teaching first at Thomas Jefferson University, Ray spent the majority of his career teaching medical-surgical and psychiatric nursing at Gloucester County Community College, where he retired Professor Emeritus.
Ray was born just after the United States entered World War 2, the foundation for our times as they are, and it forever fascinated him. An avid reader, Ray was most well read on the topics of the civil and second world wars, his favorite to discuss. Complimentary to his interests in history and photography, Ray traveled extensively both throughout the United States and the world. In his later traveling years, he particularly enjoyed traveling with Road Scholar, an educational travel program.
Reliable, sensitive, generous, and even-keeled, Ray had a strong empathy for children struggling with illness, animals, and the plight of those living in Appalachia (subsequent to an enduring pattern of the region's exploitation). He donated generously to several organizations in their support and he would be so pleased if you would donate to such an organization of your own choice in his honor.
A Visitation and Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 22nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Charity 231 Upland Rd, Brookhaven, PA. Burial imminently to follow at St. Josephs Cemetery in Blackwood, NJ To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Raymond Gick Jr., please visit our floral store.
