Raymond "Ray" Gilmette Jr.,70, of Newport, passed away Friday, September 9, 2022, at Carolina East Medical Center.
Ray was born on May 26, 1952, in Waltham, Massachusetts to the late Raymond Sr. and Anna Gilmette. He was a devoted United States Marine for over 21 years. Ray has been stationed from one end of the country to the other. He will be forever cherished as a loving husband of 43 years, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Gilmette of the home; daughters, Amy Reeves (Adam) of Raleigh, and Melissa Sink (Jason) of Morehead City; son, Brian Gilmette (Emily) of New Bern; sister, Lora Hill (James) of Virginia; brother, Paul Gilmette (Janet) of Massachusetts; grandchild, Kayla Reeves; and sweet puppy dogs, Max and Smokey.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Gilmette.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.
