Raymond J. Giroux

Sturbridge: Raymond J. Giroux, 76, of Park Ave., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, in UMass Memorial Hospital – Harrington, after a 4 year battle with multiple myeloma.
He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Janet R. (Leduc) Giroux; his two sons, Scott R. Giroux of Sturbridge and Michael K. Giroux of Southbridge; his two daughters, Pamela A. Powers and her husband Thomas of Southbridge and Jennifer L. Bussiere and her husband Curt of Charlton; a brother, Charles F. Giroux and his wife Sheila of Southbridge; his four cherished grandchildren, Sean, Cory, Colin and Caitlyn.
Raymond was born in Southbridge the son of Raymond C. and Lillian (Dorighi) Giroux. He graduated from Cole Trade high school and went on to work for more than 35 years as a machinist for Simsak Tool and Die in Southbridge. Raymond was a member of St. Mary's Church of St. John Paul II Parish in Southbridge as well as the Improved Order of Red Men in Southbridge. He enjoyed golfing, playing in pool leagues as well as being a fan of Boston sports especially the Boston Red Sox's and New England Patriots. Raymond was a family man and enjoyed spending holidays, birthdays and family events with his children and grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors & staff at the Southbridge Cancer Center and a special thank you to Dr. Howland for his compassionate care in Raymond's final days.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec 7th, from the Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home, 130 Hamilton St., Southbridge, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Mary's Church of the St. John Paul II Parish, 263 Hamilton St., Southbridge. Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery, Southbridge. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Friday, Dec 6th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
