Raymond Joe Haigood

Raymond Joe Haigood, 84, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025, with his family by his side.

Visitation will be Monday, December 8, from 6 to 7 PM at Boxwell Brothers. Services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, 2800 Paramount Blvd, Amarillo, Texas.

Born in Cordell, Oklahoma, to Wallace and Doshia Haigood, Joe lived a full and devoted life centered around faith, family, and hard work.

Joe and his wife, Loretha, made Amarillo, Texas, their home for more than 40 years. He retired from the industrial bearing industry nearly 20 years ago after a long and dedicated career.

Joe was known for his love of fishing, his deep joy in his grandchildren, and his amazing sense of humor—always ready with a joke to make someone smile. He and Loretha rarely missed a birthday party, school event, or celebration, showing up with unwavering support for the family they cherished so deeply.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Karen Ann and Kay, and by his son, Steve Haigood.

Joe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Loretha; his daughter Karen and her husband, Bill Matthews; his son Frank Haigood; his daughter Karla Griffin; and his son Tony Haigood. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom adored him and will carry his memory forward.
