Raymond Hill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Robertson County Funeral Home on Feb. 10, 2026.
Raymond Lewis Hill, age 89, of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, passed away on January 12, 2026, at the home he shared with his daughter and her husband.

Raymond was born on September 13, 1936, in Robertson County, Tennessee, to James "Jimmy" Hill and Effie Evitts Hill. He was known for his strong work ethic and his deep devotion to his family.

Raymond was a lifelong member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. His church family has been a blessing for him, especially since the passing of his wife Sue in 2013. He particularly enjoyed outings with the senior adults, singing and occasionally having the opportunity to lead singing, and especially church events when food was involved. He remained a regular attendee until just after Thanksgiving.

Raymond worked for many years as a plumber. He began his career with a plumbing company before eventually working for himself for many years. At one point, he was also the co-owner of a small plumbing supply company in Goodlettsville.

Raymond and Sue enjoyed traveling with family and, at one time, purchased an RV to take trips together.

His true passion was spending time outdoors on his property. He loved working outside and caring for animals. Behind his home was a goat barn where he kept and raised goats and chickens, often taking his grandkids out to meet the new babies after they were born. He also loved dogs and, for several years, raised and bred Great Pyrenees, which were his favorites-except for Tinker, the miniature dachshund who lived with him and Sue.

Raymond dammed up a stream on his property to create a small pond, which he stocked with fish for his grandkids. He taught them how to use a pitchfork and an electric fence to gather earthworms for fishing trips. His face would light up whenever one of them hooked a big fish.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Sue Apple Hill; parents, Jimmy and Effie Hill; his older brother, James Otis Hill; and his four sisters, Clara Mae Hill Harris, Louise Hill Binkley, Elizabeth Hill Sterry, and Edith Gladys Hill Eden.

He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Hill Kilpatrick, and her husband, Mark Kilpatrick; his grandchildren, Ryan Kilpatrick and Chloe Mowry (Aaron); and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Spring Hill Baptist Church, 6137 Dividing Ridge Road, Goodlettsville, TN. Visitation will take place from 12:00–2:00 p.m., with the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Alive Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

In memory of Raymond, please consider a donation to Spring Hill Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.

Arrangements are being coordinated through the Robertson County Funeral Home.
