Raymond Jones, age 84 of Gatesville, passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023 in Gatesville.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 1st at Scott’s Funeral Home.
Raymond Leo Jones was born on July 8, 1938 in Gatesville, to the late Lynn D. and Inah Mae Ballard Jones. He graduated from Gatesville High School in 1956. He then attended Abilene Christian University and Tarleton State University. He married Connie Everett on October 3, 1959 and they resided in Gatesville all their married lives. He worked for Nabisco for thirty years, retiring in 1997 and was known as the “Cookie Man.” After his retirement, he worked for POCO Automotive and Mountain Water Supply. Raymond enjoyed gardening and was known to grow the best tomatoes in Coryell County. He also worked on lawn mowers and was always helping his friends. He was a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Torre Sexton.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 63 years, Connie Jones; children, Rickey Jones and wife, MaxAnne, Mikel Jones and wife, Lori, Gary Don Jones and companion, Joy Bogart, Sherri Young and husband, John; sister, Martha Sexton; five grandchildren, Matthew Jones and wife, Hailey, Taylor Jones, Ethan Jones, Austin Jones, Cassidy Young; two great grandchildren, Hudson Jones and Jett Jones; and numerous nieces and nephews which he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Big Sting, 3417 Imperial Dr., Gatesville, TX 76528.
