Raymond Paul Lacek

Raymond Lacek, age 95 of Hendricks, MN passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023 at the Hendricks Community Hospital. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30a.m. on Wednesday, June 21st at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Wilno. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church with a Rosary at 9:15am. Burial will be at the St. John Cantius Catholic Cemetery in Wilno with Military Honors. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel of Hendricks, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.
Raymond Paul Lacek was born on March 22, 1928 to parents John and Frances (Bukowski) Lacek. He was born on the family farm in Hansonville Township, were he lived his entire life. Ray was the oldest of four children. He received all of his Holy sacraments and was a lifelong member of St. John Cantius Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Ray attended country school through the 8th grade then worked on the family farm with his dad and also helping the neighbors, especially during harvest season.
Ray was drafted into the United States Army in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953 and then he became a member of the American Legion Post #195. He returned to the farm and on September 17, 1957 he was united in marriage to Theresa Schroeder. They were blessed with two children: Richard and Becky.
Ray loved the farm life, feeding cattle, milking cows, watching the crops grow and most of all the smell of freshly harvested grains and how it yielded. Keeping an eye on the neighbors as he drove around was a past time he enjoyed. His favorite mode of transportation was his skid loader, it was his legs for the last few years. Ray also enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and playing whist with family and friends. The best thing was going to Grandma Schroeder's for banana cream pie. He liked watching "Wheel of Fortune" and westerns.
Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa; his daughter, Becky (Scott) Odland; his siblings: Donald Lacek and Delores (Leo) Lamonte and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Lee and his son, Richard.
Our beloved Ray, how we will miss your fun-loving spirit, sense of humor and that smile. Life will never be the same. We will miss you, always and forever.
