Raymond Francis LaMarche Sr.

COHOES - Raymond Francis LaMarche, Sr. born December 16, 1939, in Cohoes, NY was sent to his eternal home on May 12, 2025, surrounded by his loving and devoted family.
Ray, as he was affectionately known, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
Born and educated in Cohoes, he was the son of the late George and Albertine (Moisan) LaMarche. Ray was a lifelong resident of the city of Cohoes. He served honorably in the US Army Reserves and worked for over 27 years at the Ford Motor Company in Green Island until his retirement. Following retirement, he went on to work another 12 years as a courier for Kelleher & Assoc. Law Firm in Latham.
In his retirement years, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Chazy Lake NY and Florida where they have several close friends. He also enjoyed betting the horses, game nights with family and donating money to the local casinos. Ray was a long-suffering San Francisco 49ers fan and enjoyed watching the Celtics and Yankees play ball.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Anita LaMarche. His 5 beloved Children; Raymond (Lisa) LaMarche Jr. of Florida, Linda (Ralph) Alesio of Cohoes NY, Sherry (Mike) Mason of Chazy Lake, NY, Denise Jordan of Cohoes NY, and Dennis (Natalie) LaMarche of Watervliet NY, also by his siblings, George LaMarche III (Kathy) of Waterford, Connie Pierre of Guilderland and Maryann Sicko of Crescent. Ray was Grandpa to his 23 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, all who plan to carry on his amazing legacy.
Ray was quick-witted, and full of jokes, whether appropriate at the time or not. We ask that you remember him not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tell a joke, bet a horse, yell at the TV when your favorite team is playing. But whatever you do, do it with a smile and a heart full of love.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Trinity, 122 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ray's family on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes.
