Raymond Lyle Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Bald Knob on Mar. 19, 2026.
Raymond Ennis Lyle passed away Tuesday March 17, 2026 at the age of 91. Ray was born February 19, 1935 to Ted and Edna Lyle in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. At an early age he enlisted in the United States Army and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne – having graduated in Company "I" Airborne Class 34 in April 1953. Despite having had a severe injury from a parachuting accident during his service in Germany, he had a lifelong enthusiasm for parachuting. And despite suffering some resultant disability from this injury later in life, Ray remained a proud veteran paratrooper and rigger from the 82nd Airborne.

Following his time in the service he married Margaret Stuart and lived in East Texas for many years before relocating to Camden, Arkansas. Ray had an extensive knowledge (and collection) of hand tools and industrial equipment and worked most of his life in the industrial tool supply industry in South Arkansas. For most of these years he managed Davco Tool and Supply in Camden. Ray's knowledge and talent using hand tools as well as his mechanical expertise provided a great foundation to pursue his interests in woodworking. He had a passion for building large replica models of vintage aircraft and flying them. His creative skill and passion were further displayed as he was a talented artist who loved oil painting.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Agnes, his wife of nearly 50 years Margaret and his granddaughter Carrie and nephew Charlie. He is survived by his sons Rob (Carlene), Randall (Angie) and Chris (Ashley) as well as his brother Joe (Barbara) and sister Glinda (Mike); granddaughters Courtney, Kelsey (Jared), Taylor and Grayson as well as greatgrandchildren Carson, Olivia and Mckenna as well as Robbie who was just born March 11; he was loved by numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large family of caregivers at Briarwood Nursing Facility.

His service will be led by the Rev Chaplain Beverly White at Powell Funeral Home in Bald Knob Arkansas Friday March 20 at 2 pm – preceded by visitation at 1 pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Shady Grove Cemetery in Bald Knob

The family expresses their heartfelt love and appreciation to Ray's healthcare family of caregivers from both Briarwood Nursing Facility and Gentiva Hospice. Their love for our father was always on display and they always provided comfort and compassion during a long and difficult journey. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Disabled Veterans Association; www.dav.org.
