Raymond Moritz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home on Dec. 9, 2024.
Obituary: Raymond A. Moritz (1942–2024)
MEREDITH ---- With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Raymond A. Moritz on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
Ray was born on March 23, 1942, in Philadelphia to Winnifred (McArdle) and John Moritz. Ray took pleasure in helping others, spending time with his family, and sharing his life experiences through his entertaining storytelling.
A proud and accomplished professional, Ray built a long and successful career. Ray joined the Air Force which opened opportunities and led him to work in electrical engineering and management at companies such as Ford, Computer Vision and Canon. Ray retired in 2006, and continued working, now for his community. He served on the Meredith Select Board, Planning and Zoning Boards, and organizations such as Visiting Nurses, Windy Water Conservatory, and Rotary Club, among others.
Ray was forced into golf by Canon and surprised to learn he actually enjoyed it. He was a compassionate fisherman proving to be no threat to Lake Waukewan's fish. He enjoyed business travel and retirement travel even more reaching all seven continents.
Ray's greatest source of pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol Jean Moritz (née McKone). Together, they raised four children: Teresa (Karl Gschwind), Colleen (Patrice Correia), Raymond (Nili Dekel-Moritz), and Mary Beth. He was also the proud grandfather of five, Anna, Emily, Segev, Liat, and Ofer, whom he adored just as much as his beloved cat Lucy, a fact the grandchildren enjoyed teasing him about.
Services will be held at St. Charles Borromeo, Meredith, Saturday December 14, 2024, at 11:00 followed by a casual luncheon at the parish hall.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2025 at the Waukewan Country Club, details to follow.
In lieu of flowers, please do something kind in honor of Ray Moritz.

I have the most fun memory of Ray. The "Helens" planned a day at the lake several summers ago and at the last minute Mary wasn't able to go. She encouraged us to not cancel plans and to make a day of it without her. We had the best day swimming & fishing off the dock. But the best memory is the boat ride and lake tour with Ray at the helm. I'm pretty sure he had a great time, too! We still talk about that great day that Mary missed. Tom & I send our deepest sympathy to the family and will always remember him fondly.
