Raymond R. Morrison
October 29, 1943 - April 5, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond R. Morrison, who peacefully left us on April 5, 2025, after a courageous battle with metastatic prostate cancer. He was 81 years old.
Ray was born on October 29, 1943, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Ray and Anne Morrison. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, where he not only excelled academically, earning a degree in Civil Engineering but also made his mark on the basketball court. A true lover of sports, Ray enjoyed playing softball, competing in fantasy football with his sons, and spending time at the casino playing Texas Hold 'Em. But nothing brought him more joy than watching his children compete in sports. He never missed a practice, game, or match. His pride in their achievements was evident at every moment, and he was always there, offering spirited coaching and cheering them on with unwavering enthusiasm. Whether they were on the field or court, Ray's energy, encouragement, and support were a constant presence. Above all, he was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. His loyalty to the team was steadfast-no matter the outcome, he proudly wore his jersey each week, passionately cheering (and often yelling) at the TV.
Ray's greatest pride, however, was his family. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Carol, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years of marriage. Carol was his "Queen," the love of his life, and the center of his world. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Ray was an unforgettable intellectual storyteller. His anecdotes, rich with thought-provoking insights, humor, and wit, often sparked lively debates. He had a remarkable ability to captivate his listeners, leaving them with lasting memories of his stories-many of which he would revisit time and time again, never losing their charm. Intense and driven, Ray was above all a man who deeply admired and adored his children. His love for them was boundless, and he would go to any length to support and protect his family.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his children Jennifer (Brian) Farnsworth, Rayme (Kim) Morrison, and Sean (Karah) Morrison; his grandchildren Jackson, Jaymeson, Luke, Drew, Anna, Anthony, Joe; his siblings Richard (Yvonne) Morrison and Carol Ferris; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Anne Morrison.
Ray's family and friends will always remember him for his incredible storytelling, unwavering devotion, and intense love for his family and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was a man who would do anything for those he loved. His legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Ronald McDonald House, in Ray's memory.
