Raymond Navarette Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 13, 2024.
Mr. Raymond (Ray) Navarette, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 8, 2024 at his home, The Navarette Farm with his loving family by his side. Raymond passed away as a beloved Brother, Uncle, and bonus Grandfather to many. He was 78 years old.
Ray is survived by his brother, Frank Navarette (Norma) of Anthony, NM; Sisters, Rosa Dwyre (John) of San Antonio, TX; Isabel Uranga of San Antonio, TX; and Juanita Silva (Manuel) of Elephant Butte, NM. He is also survived by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who he regarded as family. He also leaves behind his cherished dog, Rocky. He is preceded in death by his parents Juan and Carmen Navarette and his brother Freddie Navarette.
Ray was born on September 26, 1945, in Pecos, TX sharing a birthday with his beloved mother. He graduated from Pecos High School. Ray moved to Los Angeles, CA area in his twenties and in 1989 relocated to Yuma, AZ where he had a long career with Western Growers Assurance as the Mexico Program Administrator. In 2004 the Governor of the state of Arizona honored Ray with Arizona's Farmworkers Coalition Award for his involvement in the farm worker community. In addition, the Department of Economic Security also recognized Ray for his work as organizer of various migrant seasonal farm worker programs. This is where he built his "Family" with many in Yuma, Mexicali and San Luis, MX.
Ray had an insatiable love for his family and often traveled with them, spending every holiday and birthday surrounded by them. He was the connector and host of many family reunions and events. He was so proud of the trips he took with his siblings, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Ray had a love of photography that all were able to benefit from as he was often the narrator of all weddings, parties and vacations for those he spent time with. He won photography awards, but his favorites were the candid shots of his "grandchildren" and his "puppy". His greatest asset was his sense of humor; everyone in his life was impacted by his quick wit and ability to incite joy in all. He never met a stranger and kept his humor through his last days.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 9:45 am to 10:15 am with Rosary to begin at 10:30 am. Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am, all services to take place at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Anthony, TX. Immediately followed by Graveside Service at 12:15 pm at Anthony Community Cemetery. Reception immediately following services.
