On November 10, 2023, Raymond Lawrence Wall (KA7OJW) peacefully passed away from natural causes at the Legacy House of Bountiful. Born on July 13, 1944, the first born of Lawrence Conrad Wall and Melba Harman Wall. He was raised in Holladay, Utah along with his sister Peggy Wall Meyer.

As a young man, Ray developed a love of electronics with a special interest in antennas and how they worked. He built his first radio while in high school, and later graduated from Olympus High.  After high school he attended the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City where he developed a desire to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was later called to the Eastern State Mission. He served mainly in the Burrows of New York City, upstate New York and had the opportunity to serve at the 1965 World’s Fair Mormon Pavilion. It was during his mission that Ray gained an unmovable testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After Ray returned from his mission, he took a job at the ZMCI Center at Cottonwood Mall in Salt Lake City, where he met his eternal companion, Arlene Burbidge. The two courted for a short time and were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 28, 1968. Ray and Arlene raised their five children in Sandy, Utah and Mesa, Arizona. Ray and Arlene have 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren that brought great joy to them.

Throughout his life Ray served diligently in numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His quiet acts of service spoke loudly of his character and love for those around him. Having the opportunity to serve a Service Missionary with his Eternal Companion Arlene at the Cannery and Bishop’s Store House in Mesa, Arizona blessed their family’s lives.

Throughout his professional career, Ray worked for several telephone companies developing Cellular Towers Networks in Utah and Arizona. Although he spent a lifetime developing the telephone technologies that we all rely on today, Ray was never interested in talking on the phone. His preferred method of talking long distance was on the amateur radio, as a lifetime ham enthusiast Ray kept his Ham Radio license KA7OJW and emergency communication plan active up until death.

Raymond was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Arlene, and his parents Lawrence and Melba Wall. He is survived by his sister Peggy Meyer (Spencer), his daughters Tami Pace (Jim), Lisa Clawson (Travis), Debbie Barney (Randy), his sons Jeffery Wall (Lauren), Steven Wall (Rachel), his 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family expresses gratitude to those that cared for our dad over the last couple of years in the care centers in Bountiful, Utah where he has lived since the passing of his beloved eternal companion and our mother Arlene.
