Raymond Francis Weicker

Raymond Francis Weicker, 69, of Blandon, formerly of Tamaqua, passed away peacefully on Sept. 9, 2024.

Born in 1955, Raymond was a man of unwavering loyalty, humor, and heart. His life was marked by deep love for his family, a passion for his community, and a quiet resilience in the face of life's many challenges.

Raymond's journey began in Tamaqua, PA, where he was raised with values of hard work and kindness. He went on to build a successful career as a theology/math teacher then went on to be a drug and alcohol mental health counselor. He was always known for his hard work, kindness, and service to the community.

Outside of work, he was an active member of the community, always lending a hand and offering wisdom to those around him. Above all, Raymond was a devoted husband, father, and friend.

He is survived by his beloved wife, M. Eva Weicker, MD; his children, Stefan Weicker, and his wife, Rachel, and Raymond Weicker; his sister, Elizabeth Ann, wife of Dr. Cary Conyers; younger sister Lorraine, wife of Thomas Becker; and brother-in-law Mark Lasota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Elizabeth Weicker; his brother, Robert Weicker; and sister, Patricia Weicker.

Service: A celebration of Raymond's life will be held at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 in St. John XXII Catholic Church, Tamaqua, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the church, a cause close to Raymond's heart. Arrangements by Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown. Raymond's presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace, Raymond.

Dear Family and Friends of "Ray Weicker,"
I just learned from a mutual friend that Ray passed away some months back. I thought he would live forever. I'm sorry he died as young as he did. I know you all feel the same.
I met Ray in Rome, Italy. He stayed six months longer than his commitment there, I was just about to start my studies with two others from our Covenant House Faith Community. He was good enough to get us acquainted with life in a foreign country.
Ray was exactly as his obituary was written. I could not have written it better.
May your soul rest eternally in peace, Ray. You did well. Your family and friends will not forget you.
Peace and God's blessings, Anna F.

To Eva, your family and friends--- I am SO SORRY at the death of Raymond! I am so sorry for your loss!

We grew up together on Schuylkill Ave--just 2 houses apart. . . and we had such fun, so many wonderful experiences, adventures, arguments, philosophical and theological discussions, for so many years--over the backyard fence. I wish I could attend his funeral, but I am out of town until this Saturday. BUT--- I will offer Mass for Raymond this afternoon. Be assured of my prayers! God be good to him!

PS--Dr. Eva, my sister Noranne was a student of yours at LCCC---- she absolutely LOVED your class! She is the one who sent me this obituary. She asked me to assure you, she is praying for all of you, as well.

Ray was a bright light at Kutztown College. There were many fun times socially and spiritually. I remember great conversations and retreats over the years. He was one of those friends that you would always smile and laugh remembering great times reminiscing about our college years. Rest in God´s arms Raymond. I am so grateful to have had you in my life.
