Nancy L. Bachman

Nancy L. Bachman, 82, of Lehighton, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, in the Parkland Manor in Allentown. She was the widow of Bruce R. Bachman, who died on Nov. 29, 2016.

Born on July 7, 1943, in Lehighton, she was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Mary J. (Walck) Schmalzel.

She was a 1960 graduate of Mauch Chunk Catholic High School and served as a representative for the class for many years.

Nancy worked as a bookkeeper for Duraloom, Lehighton, from 1960-69 and parish secretary for SS. Peter and Paul School from 1985-89 and SS. Peter and Paul Church from 1985-1995.

She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church, Lehighton, where she served and was a past secretary for the Altar Rosary Society and a member of the Chorale Group and was a former treasurer for the SS. Peter and Paul CYO.

Nancy loved playing bingo at the Mahoning Valley Ambulance.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey M. Bachman, husband of Laura, of Royersford; granddaughters, Juliana and Aurora; sisters, Eileen, wife of Roger Mriss, Francene Strubinger, Kathleen, wife of Dave Bystry, Debra, wife of Scott Fronheiser, and Cynthia, wife of Lynn York; and nieces and nephews.

She was also predeceased by an infant son and a sister, Eleanor Greber.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, SS. Peter and Paul Church, 260 N. Third St., Lehighton, with Father Christopher Zelonis officiating. A committal service will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Lehighton. A viewing will be held Monday, March 30, from 6-8 p.m. at the Schaeffer Funeral Home, 300 Alum St., Lehighton, with a prayer service to be held at 6 p.m. Schaeffer Funeral Home, Lehighton, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
