Reba Bernita “Bernie” Mills Sharpe, 91, of Harriman, Tennessee passed away peacefully on January 22, 2025 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was born on January 12, 1934 in Madisonville, Tennessee. She was the fourth child of twelve born to Aaron and Bernice Crowder Mills. Bernie was a bookkeeper at Bank of Oak Ridge where she worked until she retired from Bank of America. After retirement, she worked as a greeter at Walmart in Oak Ridge and in the café at Bechtel for Hot Bagel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, John A. Sharpe. She is also preceded in death by her brothers; George Lee, Aaron “Bud”, Ralph, Herbert “Hootie”, and Melvin “Lynn” and sisters; Elizabeth, Carolyn “Ruth” and Martha.
She loved taking care of people. She enjoyed going on cruises with her husband, spending time with friends at the Elk’s Lodge of Oak Ridge, playing bingo, working crossword puzzles, playing cards, crafting beautiful home décor and reading. Her sense of humor and love of pranks will always be remembered. She was a beautiful, strong and caring woman who was cherished and will be deeply missed. If you knew her, you couldn’t help but love her.
She is survived by her brothers; Charles D. “Chick” Mills and spouse, Donzetta and William “Jeff” Mills and spouse, Judy. In addition to her brothers, she is survived by her children, Allison Lea King Moltz and spouse, David, of Dallas, Texas; Gregory Leon King and spouse, Jackie, of Monterey, Tennessee; and Steven Preston Sharpe of Harriman, Tennessee. Her son Steven was her loving caretaker for the last several years. She is also survived by her granddaughters; Marisa King and Casey Hunt and great grandchildren; Mackensie Russell, Luke Haun and Leo Hunt. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and special friends, Don and Hilda DeSha.
There will be a visitation service on Sunday, January 26, 2025 between the hours of 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Mott-McKamey Funeral Home in Oak Ridge.
