Reba Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stroud Funeral Home on Jan. 9, 2026.
Our beautiful mother gained her wings on Thursday, January 8, 2026

Reba Smith was born on November 22, 1934, in Jesup, Ga. to Ellis and Clara Leggett. Mama came from a large family, being one of 10 children. You would never know it, but she was actually a country girl. Even though the miles separated her from her family they all stayed very close. We all loved listening to their hilarious childhood stories. They could write a book of all their antics. She met the love of her life, Bobby Smith, while he was stationed in Ga and married on September 21, 1953. They moved their family to Texas in December of 1961 and raised their 3 children, Debbie, Randy and Benita in Clute, Texas.

Mama loved bowling, dancing and all the sporting activities her children were involved in. Even though she never played those sports, she was a great coach. She also loved fishing as long as someone else would bait and remove the fish.

Mama always said she was blessed to be able to watch her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up and play in her back yard. Her family was her world.

Reba was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Clara Leggett, husband Bobby Smith, daughter Debbie Thomas, sons in law, Robert Anderson and Ricky Thomas, brothers Ellis (Junior), Denvis and Archie (Man) Leggett, sisters, Ouida Robinson, Geniva (Tiny) Culpepper, Melba Hayes and Nella Strickland.

She is survived by her son Randy Smith (Kelli), daughter Benita Anderson; grandchildren Tabitha Thomas (Jason), Brad Thomas (Nikki), Haley Smith (Gardo), Patrick Anderson (Tama), Justin Anderson (Tambra) and 11 great grandchildren; her sisters, Betty Windsor and Clarice Staal and her sister in law Rose Gunn.

Per her request there will be no visitation and only a graveside service scheduled for 3:00 pm on Monday, January 12 at Restwood Cemetery in Clute, Texas.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brad Thomas, Patrick Anderson, Justin Anderson, Gardner Campbell Jr. (Gardo) and her great grandsons, Keaton Anderson and Braden Coleman.

Honorary Pallbearers will be David Culpepper, Stephen Culpepper, Coby Culpepper and Jason Beal.
