Rebeca Reyez Gomez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 77, after a 5-year battle with leukemia. Rebeca's life was a testament of love, determination, and dedication.

Rebeca was a wonderful woman that had to adapt to new situations. She lived her younger years in Mexico where she met her husband, Mariano. Soon after her marriage, they moved to Madrid, Spain following his dream of returning to his family roots.

Rebeca dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother. Always putting her daughter's well-being first. In Spain, she owned a convenience store for 20 years and was a very hard worker. She worked long hours every day and somehow, still managed to take care of her home, the cooking, and her family. She made long lasting friends with many of her customers because of her sweet and friendly personality.

Rebeca loved to travel and she had the opportunity to visit many countries, her favorites being: Italy, Russia, Egypt and Greece. She also loved coming to Utah almost every year where she sent her daughter for school which later on became her daughter's permanent residence. Rebeca was a talented self-taught cook. She excelled at making Spanish dishes including paella, lamb, cochinillo asado, octopus, among others. Also, she loved gardening and loved flowers. She spent her last summers outside on her deck listening to oldies and enjoying her garden.

After her diagnosis of acute leukemia, she and her husband had to permanently stay in Utah where her daughter could take care of her during this challenging time. At the time, she had a 3-year-old granddaughter and she fought hard against her cancer. She had the determination to hang in there until God permits. Rebeca was a strong believer of Jesus Christ and very devoted to the Virgin Mary. While she was in remission, her whole family travelled to France to visit the Lady of Lourdes sanctuary where miracles happened.

Her family finds peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and she is in the presence of God the Father and Jesus.

Her life was one of hard work, faith to Jesus, devotion to her daughter and granddaughter. She is survived by her husband Mariano, daughter Wendy, and granddaughter Sofia.

The family expresses gratitude to her family doctor Nicholas Duncan and her oncologist Bradley Hunter for never giving up on her.
