Services celebrating the life of Rebecca “Becky” Johnson Tomerlin will begin at 10:30AM Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Faith Baptist Church with Bro. Daniel Fortenberry officiating. The Tomerlin Family will receive guests from 9:30 AM until 10:15 AM prior to funeral rites in the church. A Private Inurnment will be held at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Becky, a beloved wife, mother, MeMe, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the age of 70.
A retired nurse, Becky served faithfully at East Mississippi State Hospital dedicating her life to caring for others both professionally and personally.
A proud member of The Daughter’s of the American Revolution and The Daughter’s of the Confederacy, Becky had a deep appreciation for history and heritage. She was also a longtime member of Faith Baptist Church, where she served on various committees finding great joy and fellowship.
Becky was known for her talent and love of sewing. One of her greatest joys was creating handmade christening gowns for newborns-a tradition that touched the lives of many families and will be remembered for generations.
She is survived by her devoted husband of almost 41 years, Ronnie Tomerlin; her brother, Coleman Johnson; her son, Lloyd Mayatt; her stepdaughter, Alisha Parker, and her husband, Kenny; her beloved grandchildren, Kennedy Parker and Mason Parker.
Becky is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Caroline Johnson.
Becky’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The Tomerlin Family kindly requests donations be made to the ALS Association or to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund in Becky’s honor in lieu of flowers.
