Rebecca Joanne Compton, age 62, passed away on January 5, 2025, after her courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Akron on December 2, 1962, to the late Norvel II and Joanne Lewis. Rebecca worked at SD Myers for 25 years as a sales representative. She loved planting flowers and gardening. She enjoyed traveling, but especially shelling on her yearly trips to Myrtle Beach. Rebecca loved spending time with her family even if it meant going to a lot of sporting events. She also enjoyed the excitement of the occasional scratch off tickets.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 41 years Ronnie Compton; daughter Kristina Compton; siblings Peggy Alt, Curt (Judy) Lewis, and Norvel III (Susan) Lewis; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful companions Norman and Tucker her Boston Terriers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter Megan Compton.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home and again on Saturday, January 18, from 11-12 at Springfield Baptist Church (1920 Krumroy Rd., Akron, OH 44312) with a service to follow at noon at the church.
The family would like to thank SD Myers, Mason's Auto Parts, and Acme Fresh Market for being gracious for those needing time to help her fight her battle.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rebecca's honor to a charity of your choice supporting the community's youth.
