Biography: Rebecca "Beck" Faye Currier, age 83, born in Hunter, Arkansas, currently from Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on January, 11, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her parents Helen and Louis Odom, three sisters Betty, Dail, and Patsy, one brother Leon, and one grandson, Maxson Lendermon. She is survived by her husband Dow of fifty-nine years, two daughters Kim Morrow and Karen Lendermon (husband Darren), three granddaughters Natalie Passmore (husband Ethan), Kristen Walley (husband Jay), and Mia Lendermon, one great-grandson Parker Passmore, and a dear sister-in-law Billie Jones, along with numerous life-long friends that were like family.
Rebecca graduated from Brinkley High School in 1960 where she was a star basketball player, having been named All District for three years. She was a twenty year employee of Maybelline Inc., working as a quality control inspector, where in 1995, she received the annual Employee Excellence Award.
For many years Becky was involved in children's beauty pageants. She not only served as the local director of the Twin City Our Little Miss pageant, but also taught modeling. Her skill at designing and sewing evening gowns, party dresses and sportswear was truly amazing. She dressed her own daughters and many other girls, who considered her a "second" mother. Becky was always extremely supportive and proud of all her pageant girls. During the years when Kim and Karen took dance lessons, Becky practically made all their costumes and usually those for anyone else in the class that needed some extra help with sewing. A very memorable costume was when she crafted "Three Little Pig" costumes out of football helmets with pink paper mâché ears. Becky left an enormous legacy of sewing patterns made from newspapers that she drew herself and were used by not only her, but others as well. Dance recitals always filled her heart with great joy and satisfaction, having accomplished her goal of making sure all her girls were dressed in incredible, show-stopping costumes.
Becky was the friend everyone dreams of having in their lifetime. She was always available to just listen or advise. Ready to help in any situation, Becky volunteered herself without reservation, in many cases this included a pan of homemade baked egg custard which was delicious- even better than Franke's cafeteria! Southern style food was her specialty. Her personality could best be summed up in one word "spunky". Becky's friendship was deep and true, and she never failed to say "love" after having said goodbye. Now we all say "love" to her as she enters her heavenly home.
Visitation will be Thursday January 18, 2024 from 6:30-7:30 pm at Ruebel Funeral Home 6313 W. Markham St. Little Rock. Graveside service will be held at Forest Hills Memorial Park 10200 Stagecoach Rd AR-5, Alexander on Wednesday January 24, 2024 at 3 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of RuebelFuneralHome.com
