Rebecca Kay Eikenberry, 85, of Flora, IN, and Sun City Hilton Head in SC, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2025, at her home in South Carolina with her family by her side. She was born May 7, 1940, to Laurel I. and Lucille (Kennedy) Smith. She married Cullan M. Eikenberry on June 12, 1960, and he survives.
Rebecca was a graduate of Flora High School, class of 1958 and attended Indiana University. A member of Flora First Christian Church, she enjoyed singing in the choir, leading Christian Women's Fellowship, and speaking at many churches in the area. As the first female Elder in the church, Rebecca helped coordinate and went on 25 mission trips to help needy families in Mississippi. She was also the first female President of Flora Community Club.
Rebecca was also very active in First Baptist Church on Hilton Head Island. She loved singing in the choir, teaching her Christian women's group, “Connection,” and participating in Heavenly Angels Sunday School Class. She also enjoyed her many friends and playing mahjong weekly.
In addition to her husband of 65 years, Rebecca is survived by her sons, Andrew (Lisa) and Matt Eikenberry, and grandson, Cullan Brook Eikenberry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two children (Randall and Candace), and a grandchild (Evan).
Visitation will be held at Flora First Christian Church on Tuesday, November 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home - Reinke Chapel in Flora is assisting with the funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Rebecca's honor to St. Jude’s Children's Hospital.
