Mrs. Rebecca Kay Cox Coats, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on July 14, 1947, in Loris, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Pearl Cox and the late Luzanne Livingston Cox.
Mrs. Coats was a dedicated Registered Nurse for 45 years. She was employed by the Loris Community Hospital for 22 years and worked in the field of Dialysis for many years. She completed her years of service at the Loris Nursing Center. An enthusiastic traveler, she and her husband, Ray, visited 48 states as well as several Canadian provinces, Jamaica, and the Bahamas. Most of these trips were by motorcycle.
Mrs. Coats will be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a loyal servant of God. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where her many roles included Church Clerk, Church Historian, Sunday School Teacher, and founding member of the Beulah Sisters Group.
Mrs. Coats is survived by her husband of 57 years, Ray Coats, her two sons, William Coats, and Andy Coats, and her grandson, Chase Coats. She is also survived by one sister, Francis Holmes, of Burgaw, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Coats was preceded in death by her twin brothers and grandparents.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice, Amanda, Jewel, Cassie, and Nicole for their care and kindness during Mrs. Coats illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Roger Black officiating. Committal services will follow at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00-8:00 PM on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Hardwick Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Beulah Baptist Church, 2651 Hwy 66, Loris, SC 29569.
