Rebecca Brown Upton, born on August 6, 1933, in Finleyson, Georgia, passed away peacefully in the Midway Community on May 3, 2025. She was a beloved figure in her community and had a fulfilling career as a credit manager at Sears & Roebuck. Rebecca lived in Warner Robins, Georgia, for more than thirty years before establishing her home in the Midway Community, where she resided for over three decades.
An active member of her religious community, she was initially a member of Midway Baptist Church and more recently belonged to Limestone Baptist Church in Cochran, Georgia. Rebecca's faith was a guiding force in her life and an inspiration to many.
Rebecca is survived by her loving family, including her son, Charles Lee Studstill, Jr., her daughter, Kathryn (Mike) Whalen, and her stepdaughter, Jessica Edward. She also cherished her brother, Eschol Wendell Brown. Rebecca took great pride in her grandchildren: Dawne (Mike) Easley, Jamie Lovett, Jimmy (Christy) Lovett, Brandy (Curtis) Dowless, and Becky (Jimmy) Jo Mickler, as well as her step-grandchildren, Heather (Barry) Miller, Brandy Whalen, Derek Gautney, and Kyle Gautney. Additionally, she is remembered fondly by her 17 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Rose and Allie Mae McAllister Brown; her husband, Howard Wayne Upton; her sister, Rosa Mae Hobbs; and her brothers, W.D. Brown and Paul Dallas Brown. Rebecca’s legacy is one of love, commitment, and dedication to both her family and community, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A visitation will be held on May 7, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Clark Funeral Home, located at 142 Commerce St, Hawkinsville, GA 31036. A graveside service will take place at Brown Cemetery for close family and friends, on May 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life at Limestone Baptist Church, 874 Georgia 257, Cochran, GA 31014, at 1:30 PM.
